The title says it all.
The New York Times is reporting that it has acquired a design firm, DesignbyName, that specializes in designing interior design.
The company is based in Brooklyn, New York, and its clients include The New York Post, the New York Police Department, the City of Los Angeles, and several notable institutions.
“It is a unique blend of creative, industrial, urban and design,” DesignbyList founder Matt Schmid said in a statement.
“With a strong focus on technology, we believe Designby Name is uniquely positioned to leverage this powerful tool to solve problems and create solutions to today’s most challenging challenges.”
The NYT says it has secured Designby name’s services in order to “focus exclusively on interior design.”
In addition to providing the company with its design services, the NYT says Designby list will be “actively engaged with clients and building relationships that will ultimately lead to its IPO.”
The Times is the latest news outlet to report that it is investing in a new, tech-driven design company.
The Washington Post, for example, reported that it had acquired a designer and was using the company to create a new “design platform” for its staff.
